South Africa Tour Diary
South Africa Day 1, 31st July 2009 Landed 8.00am in Johannesburg South Africa, left for Cape Town 10.30am arrived Cape Town 12.30pm. On our arrival in Cape Town we had Hendre waiting for us and the local newspaper, they took our photos and a quick word from Norman Laker with regard to what we are doing in South Africa, I will try to get a copy and email through to you. From the airport we all gladly got on our bus to the motel Best Western Cape Suites Hotel to have a 1/2 hour rest and settle in before our afternoon/evening of rugby. Newland Stadium, 2 games, 4.30pm 1st Game Western Province Under 21 vs. Leopards Under 21...WP Beat Leopards 19-16 2nd Game 7.00 pm Western Province vs. Leopards....WP Beat Leopards 54-7 Back to the Hotel 10.00pm Tomorrow Morning 1st August, Breakfast 9.00am. 10.00am Check out and then off to Stellenbosch Funny things that happened today; When we arrived into Johannesburg and were about to leave the airplane, a couple of the boys turned on their mobile phones thinking they could still receive and make calls, it wasnt untill we asked them if they had signed a global roaming contract that they realised they could not use their phones....... In the match they generally have a siren or a hooter that goes off for half time and full time, in the first game, come up to half time and this siren goes off, most of the team thought it was an air raid siren, and I am sure they were just about to jump under their seats, poor Hemant he was shocked.....
Rugby is at the Commonwealth Games, 2010 to be held in Delhi.
